It’s just a little box
plain, unwrapped
no bow.
It is just a little thing
I made for you
out of some words
I picked up along the way
common words.
I strung them together
like beads on a string
or a playlist of CDs songs.
I wanted to thank you
to tell you how important
you are to us all.
It’s only a simple poem.
